This 3-day crash course on hydraulics is the ideal for anyone who wants an introduction or a refresher on the basics of fluid power in a short time frame. Basic to intermediate topics are covered, such as theory and formulas, filtration, valves, pumps, pressure control, circuits, schematics and more.
A class syllabus, textbooks, and all homework assignments are distributed a week prior to the start of the course, with the first assignment due the first day of class. Each day consists of a homework review, lesson plans, a lab and a verbal quiz. Classes start on Fridays and end on Tuesdays in order to provide students with time to complete course assignments.
In order to complete the course, students are given a final exam at the end of the third day. Those who complete the exam will receive a personalized certificate of completion.
Lunches are provided.
Who can benefit from this course? Anyone working with or in the fluid power industry. Individuals in customer service, marketing/sales, maintenance, programming, management, CAD designers, engineers and more.

Instructor: Dr. Ken Ryan from Alexandria Technical & Community College, Director of North American Operations for CODESYS, and the top educator of the software in the industry.
This 3-day course provides a basic overview of CODESYS concepts, configuration, function and development of applications. The class is part lecture and part hands-on learning experience (60/40).
Students will learn about the 5 programming languages used in IEC 61131-3; development of modular, object-oriented code; basic signal timing; program structure, program execution control and more. Students can expect to be very comfortable with programming in IEC 61131-3 using CODESYS V2.3
What is CODESYS?
CODESYS is an open-source solution and one of the leading implementations of the IEC 61131-3 standard for PLC programming. CODESYS supports all five programming languages of the standard combining the power of advanced programming languages such as C or Pascal with the easy handling and operational functions of PLC programming systems. It is available for free on the company’s website.
With its popularity growing in the U.S., CODESYS is utilized widely in Europe in industries that deal with process, factory, mobile, energy and building automation, in addition to embedded systems.
